Static Route Parameters:
IP Version: IPV4

Additional Routes
Some of our users also suggested the use following static routes. But these may also cause issues on some other user networks. So please use the first set of static routes first and then if needed you can try followings:
Network Address: 23.246.0.0
Subnet Mask: 255.255.192.0 (or /18)
Gateway: (use the IP address of your router)
Network Address: 198.38.0.0
Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
Gateway: (use the IP address of your router)
What are these instructions suppose to achieve. I followed them in hope to change DNS but nothing happened. Getflix still doesn't recognise the settings.
Hi Zack, This instructions are for blocking access to some public DNS servers that Roku, Chromecast and some PS3 devices use instead of the DNS servers you've configured.
Instructions for configuring our DNS servers on Netgear routers can be found here: https://getflix.zendesk.com/hc/en-gb/articles/200538970-Netgear
I agree Zack. Made all the changes and nothing happened. Doesn't even instruct what to do once you have input all those numbers
Hi Rod. It's been nearly a few weeks since my 'frustrating' post. If you are still having problems, ask the very helpful staff at Getflix. They helped solve my problem. Very rare in companies these days. Well done Getflix.
I have a "Netgear Wireless Cable Modem Gateway" which dosn't have the option for "static routes". Does this mean I can't do it at all?
Hi Michael, Some modems (particularly those supplied by ISPs, whose customize them) remove some of the advanced features... if this is the case, and you can't add static routes, then you won't be able to block the access to these public DNS servers.
Ah, thanks for the reply. I've been racking my brains for a while and it's good to finally know I can't.
I entered all the instructions in add static route , do I have to put in a certain route name ? because i'm still having trouble getting hulu and amazons instant . also do I have to reset my roku because it has my old ip address before I restarted my router ?, MY ip address just changed because I restarted my modem/router ?
Just to be sure as I'm on a trial at the moment. My router is a Netgear DG834G, I've had it a long time and I think I bought it myself.
Anyway am I correct in assuming that all I have to alter is
Primary DNS In which case I use the UK one 212.71.249.225 ...
Secondary DNS I've chosen Ireland as I live closest to it. 52.72.70.84
Or is there anything else I have to change.
Kevin ..
That's all for the DNS settings Kevin, you may need to also configure static routes as described above if you want to use Chromecast or Roku with Netflix.
I’m still having problems. Here’s where I’m at
I’m using a Netgear DG834 router and in Basic Settings have set my Domain Name Server (DNS) Address as
Primary DNS 212 71 249 225
Seconday DNS 52 72 70 84
In Advanced – Static Routes I set the following:
Static Routes
1 No Kevin4 209.244.0.3 192.168.0.1
2 No Kevin3 208.67.222.222 192.168.0.1
3 No Kevin2 8.8.4.4 192.168.0.1
4 No Kevin 8.8.8.8 192.168.0.1
Is that it, is that all I have to do? If so then it is not working for me. Is there something I’ve missed out
Thanks for any support you can offer. The main purpose of wanting to do this is to access American Netflix
